This study day is for primary care nurses and allied health who work alongside whānau living with diabetes. We will investigate the impact of some parallel conditions on diabetes management and glycaemic control, as well as the impact of diabetes on the parallel condition.
8.30-8.45am: Registration and welcome.
8.45-9.00am: Karakia, introductions, and housekeeping.
9.00-10.10am: Mental health – impact of poor mental health on diabetes and impact of mental health medication on diabetes.
10.10-10.30am: Breather and grounding.
10.30-10.50am: Morning tea - provided.
10.50-11.35am: Cancer – parallel risks and complicated management.
11.35am-12.05pm: Insulin update – out with the old, in with the new.
12.05-12.45pm: Gout – prevent, treat, and manage glycaemia.
12.45-1.30pm: Lunch – BYO or visit the local cafes.
1.30-2.15pm Chronic pain – manage the pain, manage the glycaemia.
2.15-3.00pm: Managing common thyroid disorders seen with diabetes.
3.00-3.30pm Whānau voice – my diabetes journey, and the impact on my mental health.
3.30-4.00pm: Evaluation and closing karakia.
