Enrolled nursing students and graduates in the primary care setting

Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) Diploma in Enrolled Nursing students are seeking clinical placements and employment at your workplace.

Students can:

• complete and record vital signs, ECG and BGLs
• administer medication under direct RN supervision
• assist during procedures and minor surgeries
• assess and dress wounds
• give patient education
• complete documentation including referrals
• make follow-up calls, recalls and appointment reminders
• re-stock clinical areas
• help support your busy team's workload.

Placement details

• Opportunity to develop as part of your team.
• Eight-hour shifts alongside your nursing workforce.
• 32-40 hours per week for 4-6 weeks.
• Weekly support from WITT clinical lecturers.
• Reimbursement to business of $25 per day.

Upon graduation

Enrolled nurses will be a great addition to your nursing team. A new wider scope of practice will be in effect in 2025.

With additional training enrolled nurses can:

• administer medication, under standing orders
• be authorised non-medical vaccinators across lifespan
• run nurse-led clinics
• undertake cervical smears, phlebotomyand cannulations
• undertake long-term condition assessments eg ADR, CVRA
• conduct new patient assessments.
