Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is consulting on the revised Medical aspects of fitness to drive: a guide for health practitioners (MAFTD).
MAFTD helps health practitioners assess the fitness to drive of their patients.
This is the first significant review of MAFTD in over 10 years. Since the last review of the guide, advancements in medical technologies and practices mean the existing version of the guide needs updating.
In reviewing the guide NZTA:
NZTA is seeking feedback on the proposed changes from health practitioners as well as impacted industry organisations and interest groups.
This feedback will inform the final version of the updated MAFTD.
After reading the summary of proposed changes and draft revised MAFTD, submit your feedback by completing the online feedback form.
You can submit feedback until 27 September 2024.
During consultation NZTA will hold targeted webinars (GPs, 10 September, all other health professionals, 29 August) to give key stakeholders an overview of the proposed changes as outlined in the summary of proposed changes document. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions. Read more and register for a webinar.
