This programme provides funding for contraceptive consultation including administration of Depo Provera, and the insertion of contraceptive implants and IUDs to target populations. Removal of these devices as necessary is also funded. These devices can be inserted by any health professional.
These contraceptives are referred to within the programme as long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs).

This funding provides the following at no cost to the patient:
There is a maximum of two no-cost contraception consultations per woman per annum, or a maximum of four per annum for Depo Provera.
All women aged 15-24 years AND women aged 25-44 years who are either:
Practices who hold a Free Under 25s Contraceptive and Sexual Health Agreement can only claim consultations under one agreement, not both.
This programme is also funded for casual patients who may be referred to you via another service or may be drop ins. In these cases, you can only invoice for this service and no other off set can be claimed.
Patients domiciled in Te Whatu Ora Taranaki area.
Patients not domiciled in Te Whatu Ora Taranaki area.
The episode of care ends once the patient’s treatment has been completed and the outcome and claim are submitted.
Payment will be made when the outcome has been lodged for the case.
Claims can be lodged for different services for the same patient if eligibility rules apply. Please note that you can not claim a consultation for the same day you claim for insertion and/or removal of a device.
Claims are all inclusive of the consult, the insertion, observation time and consumables.
