The service is funded by Te Whatu Ora.
All Pinnacle practices.
Funding is available for one initial consultation and any required follow-up consultations. These consultations must be delivered by a GP or NP.
Follow-up consultations are to be delivered within twelve weeks of the initial consultation, if clinically warranted for treatment related to the monkeypox diagnosis.
Any patient who meets the Monkeypox case definition (available on HealthPathways).
Any patient for whom the practitioner has strong suspicion of Monkeypox infection after consultation with a Medical Officer of Health.
Any patient for whom the Medical Officer of Health has recommended a test be undertaken.
Patients who do not meet any of the above criteria should not be tested.
The episode of care ends when the outcome and claim are submitted.
Payment will be made once an outcome has been lodged for the case.
All services are provided at no cost to the patient. If the claim cannot be funded by this service, the patient may be liable to the practice for the fees incurred.
Prices are GST inclusive.

Funding for an in-person assessment including testing and prescription. This must be provided by a GP or NP.
Monkeypox follow up: $103.50
These consultations must be within twelve weeks of the initial assessment and related to Monkeypox. These must be provided by a GP or NP.
Monkeypox assessment A/H: $310.50
Funding for an in-person assessment including testing and prescription. This must be provided by a GP or NP.
Monkeypox follow up A/H: $155.25
These consultations must be within twelve weeks of the initial assessment and related to Monkeypox. These must be provided by a GP or NP.
After-hours definition:
These consultations cover all time and consumables and there can be no extra charge to the patient.
Please note that if a review of claiming indicates that a claim has been paid for a patient who was not eligible for this service then you will be required to repay the claim.
Practices are required to provide sufficiently detailed consultation notes to determine appropriate use of funding.
