This programme provides funding to provide a brief health assessment to Ukrainians arriving in New Zealand via the 2022 Special Ukraine Policy Visa. All health requirements for coming to New Zealand have been waived under the Visa.
This cohort is not considered within New Zealand’s annual refugee quota therefore they have not had the benefit of health and support services and the orientation programme at Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa (TAMA)/Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre. It is expected that they will be unfamiliar with the New Zealand health system and may have preventable public health and personal health risks that need follow-up post arrival.
