ACC has announced that from 1 December 2023 nurse practitioners working in primary care will be able to refer eligible ACC kiritaki (clients) for MRI scans for knee, back and neck injuries. Pinnacle has been advocating for this change for the past three years. To provide the service, nurse practitioners will first need to complete an ACC approved GPMRI training course. If you are interested in completing the training, please contact mrienquiries@procare.co.nz for upcoming training dates.
The ACC GP MRI service handbook (linked below) provides an overview of the referral service and clinical pathways, and a user guide for Profusion - the new referral and claiming tool.
