Offering childhood immunisation services outside of regular business hours could significantly improve access to timely immunisations for working families and others.
The purpose of this funding is to establish a regular after-hours immunisation service, for childhood immunisations, in the evening (e.g. 5-7pm) or at weekends. This service will aim to cater to whānau who cannot attend during regular business hours for various reasons.
Practices can apply to access this fund to support the provision of a nurse-led immunisation service that targets due and overdue childhood immunisations outside of usual practice hours. In cases where staffing is limited, the option of providing a nurse immuniser to the practice to support delivery of this service may be available.*
*Provision of a nurse vaccinator to the practice is limited due to widespread geographical location of Waikato practices. This can be further discussed upon expression of interest (EOI).
This is a small, limited fund. EOIs will be vetted based on the practices’ ability to meet and demonstrate the following criteria.
If you believe this initiative will make a positive impact on immunisation uptake in your community, please complete this short form to lodge an EOI.
This fund is designed to support general practices in providing after-hours childhood immunisation services. The goal is to improve access for whānau who cannot attend during regular business hours for as many practices as possible.
Pinnacle practices in Waikato that meet the above criteria.
The service should operate outside of the regular general practice business hours. If your practice is open late evening or at weekends to provide other services you can apply to this fund to add the provision of childhood immunisation services.
The fund specifically supports the provision of childhood immunisations.
This fund will cover staffing costs to provide an extended childhood immunisation service, for example nurse vaccinator and administration staff.
Applications will be reviewed after the closing date 14 March. A panel will review all applications and report back to you by 24 March.
